I shepherd a small flock of Jacob sheep on my smallholding in Lincolnshire and this unwashed Jacob fleece is from my own flock. I hand shear my sheep then skirt and pick through the fleece by hand.
The natural colours of the fleece vary from a dark brown almost black, through sun bleached light browns and tans to pure white. You can choose to have a mix of brown and white fleece, white only or brown only supplied as a 100g (3.5 ounce) pack.
The third picture shows an example of rolags, handspun yarn & a hand knitted scarf that I made from my Jacob fleece.
The Jacob fleece can vary a lot in both staple length ( 3 inches -7 inches, 7-5 cm -18 cm) and fibre diameters (25-35 microns).
The locks from Jacob fleece have slightly pointed tips, moderate crimp and some luster
Jacob fleece makes a great spinning fiber or felting fiber. You can keep the natural variations in colour separate or blend them to give a grey shade.
