Hooters Hall is a small scale fibre farm in the Fens. I shepherd a flock of Jacob sheep and this washed Jacob fleece is from my own flock. This is the same fibre I use to make my handspun yarn and felt. I shear my own flock and process the fleeces here on the farm. If you scroll through the pictures you will see a picture of my fleece processing set up and you can read about my process in detail on the Hooters Hall blog here.
We also sell raw, unwashed fleece and washed picked fleece.
The natural colours of the fleece vary from a dark brown almost black, through sun bleached light browns and tans to pure white. You can choose to have a mix of brown and white fleece, white only or brown only supplied as a 100g (3.5 ounce)
The Jacob fleece can vary a lot in both staple length ( 3 inches -7 inches, 7-5 cm -18 cm) and fibre diameters (25-35 microns).
The locks from Jacob fleece have slightly pointed tips, moderate crimp and some luster
Jacob fleece makes a great spinning fiber or felting fiber. You can keep the natural variations in colour separate or blend them to give a grey shade.
